Youth Advisory Board
As a Youth Advisory Board member of IAPW, Seth Henderson has a record of public service that was galvanized as a first generation college student. Born in Harlan County, KY approximately 100 miles from where President Johnson declared the war on poverty. Seth has demonstrated that one’s place of birth, does not determine one’s future. He attributes his accomplishments and work ethic to his mother, brother, and mentors. Seth was a double major in criminal justice and political science at Eastern Kentucky University. He is a McNair Scholar and former White House intern for President Barack Obama. He is also a former research assistant at Harvard, where he studied the racial implications of DNA collection in the criminal justice system. Currently, he works for My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, an initiative implemented by President Obama. The goal is to make the American Dream available to all boys and young men of color by eliminating gaps in their opportunities and outcomes. Seth believes that helping others is a moral and economic imperative that IAPW embodies.
