Youth Ambassador on Literacy Promotion Tour
Alexandra Rose Rieger answers call to action
In a time when our headlines are often
plagued by teen celebrities gone awry, it does even the most steely
heart good to read about young teen celebrities who clearly choose to
live life motivated to make a difference for others. Such as teen
actress/musician and Youth Ambassador, Alexandra Rose Rieger. Because
of her longstanding work with youth both nationally and
internationally, she has been invited by U.N. Ambassadors on a
multi-city tour to Africa and Europe. This is a part of her initiative
to promote Global Literacy and International Education Development.
Rieger will spearhead a Cross Cultural and collaborative initiative by
working with youth in Shriners' Hospital and other talented youths from
all over the country.
The children in the United States will embark upon the first ever
project of it's kind; by drawing pictures and children in Africa and
Europe will put words to these pictures. A short documentary will be
made. Rolf Martin, Executive Producer and Director of the documentary
adds "it was imperative for me to relay the efforts of the initiative
in it's process. I want to capture the importance and the uniqueness of
the extraordinary efforts of children who care and are reaching out
across cultural divides in ways that are significant." Alexandra will
facilitate the transfer of the project. She will be visiting:
· Luanda, Angola
· Maputo, Mozambique
· Johannesburg and Cape Town , South Africa
· London, England
