Marrying Art & Philanthropy

At the Give100 Celebration, every photograph, every piece of art, every yard of beautiful fabric represents an opportunity to support people in rural communities often forgotten. Communities where up to 90% of men and women are illiterate. And where girls are often left at home while their brothers are sent off to school.

Come and explore the art presented here. See the faces of the men, women and children that are now benefitting from access to education in an In a Perfect World school. Know that your support here empowers more communities just like these.

The Marketplace

Beyond beautiful photography, you’ll also see hand-carved work from Malawian artists, vibrant traditional fabrics, and handcrafted jewelry.

chitenge.jpg

CHITENGE
Chitenge is an African fabric similar to a sarong, often worn by women and wrapped around the chest or waist, over the head as a headscarf, or as a baby sling. The printing on the cloth is done by a traditional batik technique. The chitenge wraps here were hand-picked by our founder, Manuela Testolini, after she scoured the markets in Malawi. Whether used for clothing or framed and hung as decorative artwork, each chitenje sold here supports the education of 5 children in the developing world.

HANDCRAFTED BRACELETS
Adorn our signature handcrafted bracelet featuring the In a Perfect World name and sun motif. Each bracelet purchased supports the education of 2 children in the developing world.

sculpture.jpg

WOODEN SCULPTURE
Elaborately carved wooden sculpture is a traditional Malawian form of art. Carving skills are passed from generation to generation with pieces traditionally featuring ornate carvings of human figures. The carvings are prized for their traditional representations, but also for the relatively rare hardwoods from which they are made.
